What can I do?

We are always looking for flexible and passionate people from all kinds of backgrounds to join our team. Previous experience or not, we provide briefings and training to prepare members of our team for the work they will be doing. We especially encourage applications from volunteers who speak Serbo-Croat-Bosnian, French, Pashto, Arabic, Farsi, Kurdish, Turkish, Urdu, Hindi, Tigrinya, Amharic, Oromo, Thai, Vietnamese, and Punjabi.

If you would like to stay in our accommodation, we do ask for of contribution of five euros per night to help cover the cost of the rent. However if this would be a barrier to you volunteering, we still strongly encourage you to apply and we can discuss how we could reduce or waive this fee.

We ask for a minimum commitment of four weeks.

We take this work very seriously and require that you do the same. We make a great effort to ensure that we do not cause any harm to the people we support or to anyone else, so we expect our volunteers to follow best practices at all times, as outlined in our Volunteer Agreement and Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Policy.’

Most of our shorter-term volunteers will be working as a general volunteer - helping in our warehouses and on distribution in the field. Longer-term volunteers have the option to take on additional responsibilities as an officer.

Once we have received your application, we will get back to you about the current state of our projects and we will arrange an interview to see if Collective Aid could be for you. However, while volunteers are usually assigned to a dedicated project, it is important to retain some degree of flexibility. With the ever-changing circumstances humanitarian efforts are often facing, we sometimes have to ask our volunteers to help out with tasks different to the project they may have signed up for.
